A Blend Between Traditional and Flexible Learning
The transformative learning process at Thrive Learning Center is designed to help children grow both in and out of the classroom. Each day is filled with opportunities to experience new educational and social situations to further development. Our teachers create a safe and open setting, where they can guide children in exploring the world around them. Our approach is based on children's needs and interests, and respectful of each individual's rhythm and cadence of development.
We provide a daily schedule that creates opportunities for children to learn the essential skill of balancing work and deadlines, while including necessary time for play and exploration. Our schedule includes time and space for students to dream big, create, explore interests, imagine, play, and grow socially and emotionally.

Academics
In a multi-age classroom, children get the instruction, enrichment and intervention they need based on individual strengths & weaknesses rather than age. It reduces the pressure to "keep up" with your peers because everyone is learning at a different pace.

Elementary
We are excited to welcome kindergarten through 5th grade children to our elementary program!
We provide an integrated blend of science and social studies concepts into our math, reading, writing, content at a developmentally appropriate level.
As younger children, they are able to demonstrate their learning through curiosity, play, socialization, and project based tasks.
Middle School
We are excited to welcome 6th through 8th grade students to our middle school program!
We provide an integrated blend of math, reading, writing, science and social studies content.
Our flexible schedule allows an abundance of time for students to work on a project they are passionate about to demonstrate learning. As older students, they are able to do this through interest based choices, strengths, and projects that are not available options in traditional schooling.
What does flexible learning look like?
Flexible learning looks different from traditional classrooms, and we know it can be hard to picture. Take a peek into day to day life. Flexible learning empowers students to take ownership of their education while receiving the support and guidance they need to thrive.
Seating
When working independently, students have the autonomy to choose a working place that is best for their body. This can also include wearing sensory headphones for quiet, listening to music, or finding a quiet corner for some space.
Learning
Flexible learning includes working on the skills that you are developmentally ready for, regardless of your age. We integrate Science and Social Studies learning into our ELA and Math lessons.
Social Emotional
Flexible learning can also mean integrating social emotional skills and critical thinking into everyday work.
How do you measure student learning?
At Thrive Learning Center, we believe that learning and growth are not one-size-fits-all, and standardized tests fail to capture the full spectrum of a student’s abilities and potential. Research shows that high-stakes testing can cause significant stress and anxiety for students while providing limited insight into their true understanding or progress.
Instead of relying on standardized assessments, we use informal, personalized methods to gauge mastery, allowing students to demonstrate their knowledge in ways that reflect their strengths. Using the Common Core objectives, we’ve developed a K-8 continuum of Math and ELA objectives, enabling each student to progress at their own pace as they are ready. This approach honors individual growth and nurtures a love of learning free from the pressures of high-stakes testing.
In addition to avoiding the constraints of standardized testing, our small class sizes allow us to prioritize small group learning and individualized attention. With fewer students, we minimize downtime often spent waiting for entire classes to settle, maximizing every moment for meaningful learning. Students benefit from increased opportunities to work one-on-one with teachers or in small groups, receiving immediate feedback and support. This personalized attention helps students progress through skills more quickly and in greater depth.
Small group settings also allow teachers to check in more frequently with each student, ensuring a deeper understanding of concepts. Furthermore, we have the time and space to teach students how to make their thinking visible, fostering critical thinking skills and strengthening their grasp of new material. This focused, student-centered approach empowers learners to thrive academically and beyond.
